Surf artist Drew Brophy, known for his distinctive style of using bright colors and a unique ability to capture the energy and joy of the beach lifestyle, needs our support.

On Nov. 14, 2021 Drew was admitted into the hospital with COVID-pnemonia. What unfolded next was unprecedented in his world. This mythic character, known for charging massive surf in Todos Santos and being the first to paddle the entire 225 miles of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon with friend Seth Warren, was put into a medically included coma, while a ventilator helped him breathe.

Drew spent a total of 68 days in the ICU.

Called a “Christmas Miracle” by his doctor, Drew made a surprising comeback after the hospital admitted they didn’t know what else they could do for him. Today, after lying in a coma for 30 days, he is finally off the ventilator but still using a trach to breathe as his lungs were badly damaged by the pneumonia. He is in a long term rehab to get him off the vent and alchemize the muscles in his body again.

For over thirty years Brophy has worked as a professional artist while exploring the world painting his iconic waves and suns. This immersion in nature, in some of the most beautiful places on the planet, ignited his imagination where everything is alive and full of energy. Drew wants to share with the world the message that everything is energy and we are all connected. He strives to create art images that help people understand the true meaning of life; that life is meant to be enjoyed.

You can support Drew and his family, who are shouldering the expense of a massive rehabilitation effort, through supporting his art.
