Standup Journal & The Nature Conservancy:  Plant a Billion Trees

We are committed in our quest to walk lightly upon the earth and help nurture our environment where we can.  We certainly understand our carbon footprint and are pledging to soften our paper consumption, and protect our world’s forests by donating a percentage of our quarterly income to The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees program.

Standup Journal is no stranger to The Nat Co. We’ve been in collaboration with this hard-working environmental advocacy group before.  Check out “A New Perspective”, a 2016 short film produced by Red Vault Productions for The Nature Conservancy’s Long Island’s Water Quality mini-documentary series here:

Plant Some Trees : Join the Rising Tide & Support the Planet

Won’t you join us as watermen & women, paddlers, surfers, foilers and wind athletes by working to protect our environment? Spread the news, plant a tree, take an action in your own backyard and educate others to do same. We can still preserve our precious eco-systems and offset the changes to our environment if every citizen makes a choice, a firm commitment to preserve the green & blue planet on which we live.  Start where you are.  Do what you can.

We’ve made a choice.  How about you?

Evelyn O'Doherty, editor & publisher of the new Standup Journal 2.0 is a former school teacher gone rogue. She left her career as a teacher in order to spend more time near or on the water after learning to surf turned her life around (upsidedown?). She is a year-round surfer and paddler living on the eastern tip of Long Island in NY who is a certified SUP instructor, seasoned SUP racer and avid longboard surfer. Evelyn was hired as Online Editor to Standup Journal in 2016. Her passion for the project quickly led to her success and eventually taking over the mag herself in Oct. 2018. Today, as editor, publisher and chief bottle washer at Standup Journal, Evelyn keeps her toes wet writing, traveling, paddling, surfing, and learning to foil. You can find her most days paddling out on Gardiner's Bay or surfing Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY.
