Global Partner

This beautiful 2-minute trailer is a hint of what one can expect from this year’s SUP Film Fest powered by Paddle4Good, a non-profit benefiting environmental advocacy groups and people in need.

Max Montgomery created the first ever Film Festival based in Stand Up Paddling and held its premiere launch in Santa Barbara, CA in May 2019.

SUP Film Fest: September 1st in Long Beach NY at Allegria Hotel

The APP World Tour recently added the SUP Film Fest as a part of their New York SUP Open (Aug 31st – Sept. 8th) stop on the tour to add to the evening’s entertainment schedule. Hosted by a non-profit, Paddle4Good, the SUP Film Fest offers a terrific cache of the most inspirational stand up paddle film journeys we’ve seen yet.

From “The Great Route” a paddler’s expedition to Greenland to explore the melting ice caps via SUP, to “Epic Love” from The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis championing individuals coping with this disease by taking on an 80-mile open water crossing to celebrate the healing powers of the ocean’s salt air to CF patients. There is the story of Jonas Letieri, who lost both forearms in an accident to overcome his handicap and become a professional SUP athlete. There are so many stories to tell.

Evelyn O'Doherty, editor & publisher of the new Standup Journal 2.0 is a former school teacher gone rogue. She left her career as a teacher in order to spend more time near or on the water after learning to surf turned her life around (upsidedown?). She is a year-round surfer and paddler living on the eastern tip of Long Island in NY who is a certified SUP instructor, seasoned SUP racer and avid longboard surfer. Evelyn was hired as Online Editor to Standup Journal in 2016. Her passion for the project quickly led to her success and eventually taking over the mag herself in Oct. 2018. Today, as editor, publisher and chief bottle washer at Standup Journal, Evelyn keeps her toes wet writing, traveling, paddling, surfing, and learning to foil. You can find her most days paddling out on Gardiner's Bay or surfing Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY.
