East Coast Sup Rock Star Victoria Burgess of South Florida will attempt the first ever female solo stand up paddle crossing of the Florida Straits, from Cuba to Key West, in a Guinness Book of World Record attempt this June.

Victoria Burgess strikes out for dream of setting new World’s Record in Sup
“My goal is to strive for the top and push our limits to show the world what we women can do.” – Victoria Burgess
Victoria’s’ passage, aptly named the Chica Libre Sup Crossing will be the first attempt of its kind – a female solo standup paddler crossing the Florida Straits from Cuba to Key West. When she succeeds, Victoria will be recorded in the Guinness Book of World’s Records.

The Florida Straits: her passage
The Florida Straits are 93 miles at its narrowest point and run to a depth of 6,000 feet. Victoria’s journey will span a distance of 100–120 miles depending on her line as well as wind/weather conditions. Victoria, an ECS Boards Australia team rider, hopes to complete it within 30 hours of endurance paddling.

Victoria’s Paddle for Equality
This paddle is to raise awareness on women in sports and equality.
“I want to show young girls and women that you are free to do whatever you desire. As long as you put your mind and heart into something you can do it, no matter what trials get in the way!” – Victoria Burgess
Her purpose? Like so many paddlers, Victoria is using her bad ass strength and skill as a stand up paddler in order to stand for something greater than herself. This young athlete, a strong advocate for women’s equality in sports, sets as her goal is the raising of money and awareness for the Women’s Sports Foundation through her efforts.
How YOU can support Victoria
Victoria’s crossing of the Florida Straits will be sponsored by her friends, family and supporters who wish to contribute to her cause and the incredible passage she’s chosen to attempt. Victoria is also looking for sponsorship from brands or companies that want to ‘get on board’ and help her with her crossing.
