Charlotte Bronte:  A Woman to Admire

Charlotte Piho has a full & courageous heart. She is a woman who challenges herself both in and out of the ocean. In this photo, captured by Rosie English, Charlotte paddles back out to catch one more off of Bronte Beach in Australia.  Charlotte’s stoke is fully-charged, and her sense of aloha is real & committed.  Meet a woman who has her priorities straight, is not afraid of her inner strength and shares a vibrant love of the natural world wherever she goes.

“I like it when the waves are big…you can hear the ocean. It humbles you and without even trying puts you into a meditative state where you can’t hear or think of anything but the waves.”

Charlotte spends her time leading Sup Yoga retreats around the world, leading teacher trainings and – of course – chasing big surf from Tahiti to her home break off Bondi Beach, Australia.

Standup Journal is proud to be in association with great women like Charlotte, who are leading the charge in the sup world for women.  It is because of people like her that we’ve developed our #StandupforWomen campaign and created our online FORUM where women who paddle can come together to talk, share and connect on standup paddling & life experiences.  We celebrate YOU, Charlotte and are grateful for your contributions here at SJ online!
