Paddle Barbados:  a dream Sup Retreat for all levels.

Paddle Barbados is a facility co-owned by husband-and-wife-team, Jason & Sarah Cole.  They are located in beautiful, pristine Carlisle Bay where you can find top of the line equipment and expert instruction from this duo of good looking, grounded and fun loving folks.  Jason Cole has been Barbados’ National Sup Surf champion in years past and his wife Sarah is a fierce downwind, surf and flatwater instructor in her own right.  Together, their generosity, expertise and overall good vibe make them the right place to connect on this sunny island for all of your stand up paddle needs.

Bajan dream: Flatwater Paddling to Sup Surf, Downwinders & More

Barbados is full of adventure for stand up paddlers.  Beginners have miles of calm aquamarine coastline to explore up the West coast. Intermediates explore off shore and experience the thrill of an 8-mile downwinder. Feel the wind in your hair and ride the bumps under foot! For the intrepid and stoked out salty souls, Jason is available for sup surf tours and instruction from beginner to advanced.  He will accompany you out on Carlisle Bay or to Soup Bowls to dial you into the break and make your Bajan Sup Surf dream happen!

Jason Cole offers articulate and individualized sup surf coaching on Barbados. He is a consummate teacher, for all levels, and gets great satisfaction out of sharing his skills with his students.

Barbados:  Delicious Food and even better Paddling!

Paddle Barbados specializes in individualized instruction, group lessons and tours for you.  They also have a great cache of rental equipment at their facility on Pebble Beach where you can rent and explore on your own in Carlisle Bay.  You can even go snorkeling over the shipwrecks found there!

This tiny island is full of good people.  The Bajan folks are warm and welcoming.  People will wave at you and smile as you walk down the street.  Local restaurants include succulent fresh seafood and expertly cooked steaks like Stream, Cafe Luna, and Surfer’s Bay Beach Bar & Restaurant.  For fun sunset (or after dusk) cocktails and Mexican food, try Cafe Sol Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar in the Saint Lawrence Gap.  Almost everywhere, be prepared to add a little bajan hot sauce to your dish to check out the local flavors.  You won’t be disappointed.

Evelyn O'Doherty, editor & publisher of the new Standup Journal 2.0 is a former school teacher gone rogue. She left her career as a teacher in order to spend more time near or on the water after learning to surf turned her life around (upsidedown?). She is a year-round surfer and paddler living on the eastern tip of Long Island in NY who is a certified SUP instructor, seasoned SUP racer and avid longboard surfer. Evelyn was hired as Online Editor to Standup Journal in 2016. Her passion for the project quickly led to her success and eventually taking over the mag herself in Oct. 2018. Today, as editor, publisher and chief bottle washer at Standup Journal, Evelyn keeps her toes wet writing, traveling, paddling, surfing, and learning to foil. You can find her most days paddling out on Gardiner's Bay or surfing Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY.
