We, at Standup Journal, love the peeps and the stoke that comes from our regular contributing editors.  You know, those people who are so enthusiastic about standup paddling in every size, shape and form that they want to keep sharing about it.

We are lucky enough to have Brent Allen Outside as one of our stellar peeps.  Brent has a passion for combining paddling with environmental advocacy and hosts multiple paddles per year that include clean ups of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary where he lives in Carmel by the Sea, California.  Brent’s stoke is real.  There is nothing affected about it.  He simply loves what he does and has figured out a plan to combine the voice of standup paddling with protecting & preserving our environment.

Here is a recent note he sent us on his commitment to both … and his steadfast friendship with us here at Standup Journal.  Aloha, Brent!  We salute YOU here at SJ Online!

The world’s first Stand Up Paddle Magazine has been supportive of my small paddle board business in Carmel by the Sea in California since the start in 2014.  I have worked in the endurance sport industry for 20 years and have sincere gratitude for those that help others along the way.

The team at Stand Up Journal has regularly posted many of my GoPro videos of paddle adventures in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Many of these videos have been highlight reels of some of the best days of my life in the Pacific Ocean.

Evelyn O'Doherty, editor & publisher of the new Standup Journal 2.0 is a former school teacher gone rogue. She left her career as a teacher in order to spend more time near or on the water after learning to surf turned her life around (upsidedown?). She is a year-round surfer and paddler living on the eastern tip of Long Island in NY who is a certified SUP instructor, seasoned SUP racer and avid longboard surfer. Evelyn was hired as Online Editor to Standup Journal in 2016. Her passion for the project quickly led to her success and eventually taking over the mag herself in Oct. 2018. Today, as editor, publisher and chief bottle washer at Standup Journal, Evelyn keeps her toes wet writing, traveling, paddling, surfing, and learning to foil. You can find her most days paddling out on Gardiner's Bay or surfing Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY.
