On a recent feral pig hunt I got to really put my new SUPerFISHal to the test. From the first planning stages of this hunt my friend Rob and I had decided that the board would be a great tool for chasing wild pigs. The stage was set on a small creek in a monster swamp and soon I would see just how awesome an adventure this would be.
I loaded my gear on the SUP and headed out into the dark swamp tributary. I quickly found out 2 things about the SUPerFISHal, one that it would get into creeks so narrow and twisty that no normal boat could stand a chance and two that with a little care you could paddle it deadly quiet. It brought one of those goofy smiles to my face knowing that a critter had no chance of hearing me coming.
With my Engel cooler on board I was able to sit comfortably and drift while listening for the wild pigs feeding in the palmettos. After paddling a good distance up a winding creek I thought I heard a rustle in the leaves. As I scanned the surrounding area, a set of black legs showed up walking through the foliage.
I was able to transition from standing and paddling to sitting and shooting without a sound. I was soon standing beside my first wild pig in several years and it was the perfect eating size. I slid it onto the deck of the SUPerFISHal and started my paddle out to meet up with my son and Rob who were hunting out of a Big Tuna.
As I rounded the bend Rob said “man that thing is a meat wagon !” I can see so many possibilities in the hunting world for the SUPerFISHal that I plan on trying out as time permits. The hard part will be getting my son to give it back so I can use it !!! Just a small disclaimer, we were legal and safe in all of our efforts, make sure you know your local laws and personal limits before attempting anything like this. Other than that bit of advice, I can only tell you we had a blast on our adventure !
