ROGUE SUP SIGNS ON AS OFFICIAL BOARD SPONSOR OF THE
THE MOLOKAI 2 OAHU PADDLEBOARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

SAN CLEMENTE, CA – July 12, 2012 — Rogue Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) announced today it has signed on as the official board sponsor of the 16th Annual Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championship (M2O) race to be held July 29, 2012. The 32-mile race across the Ka’iwi Channel between the Hawaiian Islands of Molokai and Oahu is considered the most challenging paddleboard race in the world. Over 300 of the world’s best paddleboarders will compete in the M2O race, which will name the world champion of paddleboarding, both in prone and stand up paddleboarding.

“The M2O Race is the hardest race in the country and holds the most prestige. We are excited to support the race as a sponsor as well as participants. This year, we have two Rogue Teams competing, including Aaron Napoleon and Kainoa Hauanio from Hawaii, and Ryan Voci and I from California,” said Rick Karr, Founder and President of Rogue SUP. “The M2O Race is an ideal platform for Rogue to demonstrate the strength of our team and our boards – I can’t wait to get out there,” Karr added.

“We are thrilled to be working with Rogue SUP this year on the M2O Race. Out of all the SUP manufacturers out there, Rogue SUP is known for high performance and stability in choppy waters so the M2O Race is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the performance of Rogue boards,” said Mike Takahashi, M2O Race Founder.

Molokai-2-Oahu Paddleboard World Championships, presented by Kona Brewing

Co. is recognized as the one of the world’s most challenging tests for endurance and courage. Covering 32 miles of open ocean, over 300 competitors will cross the Ka’iwi (kah-ee-vee) Channel, from the North Shore of Molokai to the South Shore of Oahu, under their own power on traditional paddleboards or stand up paddleboards (SUP). The Ka’iwi Channel or Molokai Channel is also known as the Channel of Bones for its centuries old reputation as one of the most treacherous bodies of water, having claimed the lives of many, including ancient canoe fleets and modern-day fisherman and watermen. The channel is 26 miles wide at its narrowest points and separates the islands of Molokai and Oahu. Its maximum depth is 701 meters or 2,300 feet.
