Comedian Bill Murray tweeted ‘Every Olympic event should include one average person competing for reference.’ Well that’s me, the ‘average person’. No one has ever accused me of being an athlete.
Yet a love of the watery world has lead me to the most beautiful corners of this blue planet. Raised amongst the hidden coves and secret histories of the Cornish coast, where England bravely pokes its head out into the Atlantic storms, prepared me for a life of exploring the more unloved corners of the globe. From the frozen tarns of the Tien Shan in Kyrgyzstan to the Shark Callers of the Bismarck Sea I’m keen for a spontaneous, poorly planned and/or harebrained swim, surf or paddle anywhere I go…just don’t ask me to do any training before hand ☺
