Wow!  The 2018 Da Hui Backdoor Shootout did NOT disappoint for Day 1 of the competition on the North Shore.  Check out the high energy compilation reel by Matty Schweitzer of the opening day’s performances.

Da Hui Backdoor Shootout delivers the goods!

The insanely exciting Da Hui Backdoor Shootout is held at Ehukai Beach Park/Pipeline Backdoor in Memory of the Duke Kahanamoku Invitational. This unique event features a four-man-team format, and, every year, showcases Hawaii’s top watermen.  It is an rare opportunity to witness high profile surfing styles from the island’s best in their respective watersports.  Bodysurfing, bodyboarding, longboarding, stand up paddle surfing, and shortboard surfing are all a part of the mix.

The event highlights Hawaii’s underground talent as well as household names like Kai Lenny, Mo Freitas, Zane Schweitzer and others.  The boys were out in full force for Day 1 of the competition on Monday with thrills and chills and a lot of laughter as the performance got under way.

In this sick compilation video by Matty Schweitzer of Mat50 Media, he captures the day of death defying drops, rail setting drama that Pipeline’s Backdoor always delivers.  Sup athletes Zane Kekoa Schweitzer, Bullet Obra, Kai Lenny, Kealli Mamala and Tehotu Wong all find their way to new levels of performance in this hair raising performance.
