This weekend hosted the dramatic kick-off of a new event, the Dragaon World Series hosted by Red Paddle Co.  In this event, racers ride a tandem board to compete with other teams for the title or World Champs.  The Series is being hosted in the beautiful waters off of Barbados, perfect for stand up paddling!

In a dramatic upset, the fierce team from New York, the Red Ladies, challenged and then won the infamous 9K downwinder.  Race participants lined up at Miami Beach in Barbados and launched their 22-foot long Dragon inflatable tandem sup boards into the surf.  Teams of four then paddled together along the pristine coastline, going head-to-head with contenders, to finish at beautiful Carlisle Bay in the St. Lawrence Gap and home to Paddle Barbados.
