Meet the Waterman:  Chris Bertish at PPGs this Friday!

Chris Bertish is the guy who said nothing is impossible … and then he set out to prove it.  Besides being an motivated waterman and athlete, Chris is also an exceptionally inspired human being.  His passion for his causes, to raise money for needy children in South Africa, is what drove him across the Atlantic Ocean to finish is goal of being the first paddler to ever cross this body of water via paddleboard solo and unsupported.

His energy is big.  His faith in humanity even bigger.  Since his iconic crossing – which you can read about in Standup Journal’s FALL issue out on newsstands NOW – Chris has kept a hardy schedule of giving motivational speeches and working with others to protect the environment.  Chris is, in a nutshell, one helluva guy.

You get a chance to meet him!  If you are in Dana Point for the Pacific Coast Paddle Games this Friday, September 29th from 1PM-3PM look for Chris (beard now shaven) at the Standup Journal table signing autographs and meeting the masses.  We will have copies of the Journal featuring our 12-page spread on Chris to hand out FREE to the first 100 paddlers.

She left her career as a teacher in order to spend more time near or on the water after learning to surf turned her life around (upsidedown?). She is a year-round surfer and paddler living on the eastern tip of Long Island in NY who is a certified SUP instructor, seasoned SUP racer and avid longboard surfer.
