O Monterey! Brent Allen’s paddle odyssey of Monterey Bay’s beautiful Marine Sanctuary

Global Partner

Here at Standup Journal, we love Brent Allen Outside. Brent stands for everything we believe in. He is a paddler. He is stoked on getting more people out on the water. And he is fierce about encouraging the care of and raising awareness about our environment.

A Paddle Odyssey

This exclusive standup paddle journey video is both breathtaking and poignant.  Brent Allen takes us via spectacular drone footage through some of the diverse locations from where Brent Allen Outside commonly launches both on his paddle tours and through the kelp beds where he offers his annual marine clean ups.  See for yourself how special the Monterey peninsula is in terms of water quality, preservation and the ecological heritage that it offers.

Brent Allen Outside offers a very different type of standup paddle adventure.  It offers a refreshed look at the natural preserves where we paddle and creates an awareness of the vulnerability within that environment.  Featured in the film are launch points such as Fishermans Wharf in Monterey, Carmel Beach in Carmel, Lovers Point in Pacific Grove and Stillwater Cove in Pebble Beach CA.

See for yourself the diverse marine habitat of central California’s coastline.  Get ready to jump in those waters and paddle … away.

Evelyn O'Doherty, editor & publisher of the new Standup Journal 2.0 is a former school teacher gone rogue. She left her career as a teacher in order to spend more time near or on the water after learning to surf turned her life around (upsidedown?). She is a year-round surfer and paddler living on the eastern tip of Long Island in NY who is a certified SUP instructor, seasoned SUP racer and avid longboard surfer. Evelyn was hired as Online Editor to Standup Journal in 2016. Her passion for the project quickly led to her success and eventually taking over the mag herself in Oct. 2018. Today, as editor, publisher and chief bottle washer at Standup Journal, Evelyn keeps her toes wet writing, traveling, paddling, surfing, and learning to foil. You can find her most days paddling out on Gardiner's Bay or surfing Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY.
