The Stand Up Paddle establishes itself for some years as sports and leisure more and more trendy which gathers many supporters on the beaches of four corners of the world.
his practice appears as the ancestor of the modern surfing.
Its origins are found in Polynesia, where Polynesian kings had for habit to practice surfing and SUP on big boards carved from tree trunks.
It is practiced on flat water, on the open sea or in waves, in competition or leisure, Stand Up Paddle Sports is an accessible, diverse and playful activity. Its practice develops massively in the United States, in Europe, but especially in the Polynesia where there is a return to origins.
Today, the sport is trans generational and practiced by all. Besides many celebrities worldwide practice both for its physical benefits for fun.
Air France renews with the Air France Paddle Festival for its 2nd edition.
Open to everybody, from Novice to Champions this festival invites the public to discover a booming sport: Stand Up Paddle.
The Air France Paddle Festival is becoming a major Stand up paddle event in the Pacific.
Missions of the 2015 Air France Paddle Festival
Gather a maximum of people, young and old, beginners and passionate with the Stand Up Paddle in a friendly and sports atmosphere.
Offer the possibility to all to have fun and try this rapidly growing sport.
A sports program of three races with different levels of difficulty is proposed. It allows the elite to the recreational rider to participate and having fun.
For beginners the free introduction will be offered throughout the day including Yoga on SUP.
The goal is to allow the maximum of people, from any level, to enjoy this young board sport through the challenge, recreation, relaxation, conviviality and discovery in family.
The Air France Paddle Festival 2014 managed to raise 3 to 4 times more people around the sport than ever before.
On average, a Stand Up Paddle competition held from 50 to 70 competitors in Polynesia.
In 2014
– The 1st Festival of Paddle of the South Pacific in term of endowments and of participants.

– 3 Stand Up Paddle races on the same day for 3 different levels of competitors.
– 212 competitors on the day for an island of 150 000 people.
