Hi Clay

I am an avid standup paddler in Zurich, Switzerland.
Started a year ago and totally hooked.

I picked up Standup Journal at Heathrow Airport in England and was blown away by how well it showcases the diversity of this great sport, with Wavesurfing, Riversurfing, Lakes, etc.. etc..

“Normal” prone Surfing magazines suddenly seem a bit one-dimensional…

As you may know Switzerland is a really small, landlocked country in the middle of Europe – getting no swell. 🙂 But sup paddling has given me the opportunity to be a “surfer” all the same!

Our twist on standup paddling is making the best of what we have.
Beautiful lakes, rivers and a fantastic and tight public transport system.
I have an inflatable sup and this allows me to have great downwinders by using the public transport. Check the wind – grab the train – paddle home! No-one misses out on paddling!

I have attached some pics trying to show you what I’m talking about.
You can also see more pictures on my personal blog www.SUPsurf.ch which is mainly in German.

Looking forward to your next issue!

Best regards
Martin
