DARRELL WONG “You cannot imagine how difficult it is to tandem sup on a wave. And not just any wave, but a substantially sized wave! This isn’t your ankle snapping, ‘let’s look pretty catching a wave together’ kinda wave. Here we have Sonni Honscheid and Loch Eggers at Old Mans in Waikiki, off of the Outrigger Canoe Club during one of our many great south swells this past summer. It was trial and error. There were lots of wipeouts, missed waves, and caught-inside-out-of-position cleanups. Plus, Loch’s leash broke on the second wave, so there were lots of long swims into the channel. Sonni and Loch are training for the new Standup World Tour tandem division…next: Teahupo’o!” –Darrell     To see this in amazing full color and read all the stories then find a store near you with our SUJ Store Locator.   To save 32% off of the cover of our next issue then subscribe.
